On Friday, the 24th of January 2014, the customary ceremony of ‘’Vasilopita’s cake’’ cutting of the National Defence Fund (NDF) was held.
The ceremony took place in the "Kosmetos Hall" at the Mansion of NDF (Thallou & Pittakou 10) in Plaka.
Both the military and civilian personnel of NDF and a delegation of the Army History Directorate attended the ceremony, which is located at the same building.
The ceremony was honored via their presence, among others, by the former Deputy Minister, the Honorary Hellenic Army General Staff (HAGS) Chief, Admiral Dimitrios Elefsiniotis, the General Director of the AOOA, Lieutenant General Athanasios Koutroumpelis, Director of Infrastructure Directorate of HAGS Brigadier Nikolaos Lalos, President of the Panhellenic Military Federation Military - Brigadier on retirement- Vassilis Nikolopoulos, representatives of the General Staff, as well as many collaborators and former executives of the National Defence Fund.
During the ceremony, the Managing Director of NDF Major General George Stathias honored, in recognition not only for their significant long-term contribution to the NDF, but also for the Army, two prominent members of the Fund, Colonel Antonios Antoniou and Lieutenant Colonel Zacharakis Ioannis, who successfully finished their careers. At the same time, conscript soldiers were honored for their overall contribution to the implementation of major ongoing programs related to integrated monitoring and management of the NDF’s real estate.
